Energy Efficiency Measures

Both dealerships have occupancy sensors installed in low-traffic areas and amenities, leading to significant electricity savings.

Zone Air Conditioning Management

Both dealerships feature zoned air conditioning. We conduct monthly monitoring and annual reviews of these systems to ensure optimal energy efficiency and comfort for our customers and staff.

Energy Consumption Monitoring

Both dealerships are equipped with submeters, allowing our Green Team to closely monitor and manage energy consumption. This enables us to promptly address any major issues as they arise.

Rainwater Harvesting

Both dealerships are equipped with water tanks, collectively saving 383,000 Liters of rainwater.

At Moorooka, our central 50,000-liter rainwater tank plays a key role in our water-saving strategy. It captures rainwater runoff from our facilities and is used in various ways:

Landscaping Maintenance: Nourishes our greenery, reducing reliance on municipal water.
Vehicle Maintenance: Provides filtered rainwater for car washing, enhancing sustainability.
Facility Operations: Conserves potable water by using rainwater for toilet flushing.

At Hillcrest, we have strategically placed water tanks with a total capacity of 333,000 liters to enhance our sustainability efforts:

New Car Showroom: A discreet tank captures rainwater runoff, integrating sustainability into our showcase.
Parts Department: A tank in front of the parts department supports our eco-friendly practices.
Between Parts & Wash Bay: A dedicated tank ensures efficient use of rainwater.
Wash Bay: A large tank provides ample water for sustainable vehicle washing.

The harvested rainwater supports various operations, including:

Landscaping: Nourishes the dealership’s greenery.
Vehicle Maintenance: Used for car washing, reducing our environmental footprint.
Facility Operations: Conserves potable water for restroom facilities and other needs.

Water Recycling Systems

Both dealerships are equipped with water recycling systems in their wash bays, reducing water usage and promoting sustainability.

Waste Segregation Practices with our Waste Management Partner Cleanaway

Both dealerships feature dedicated recycling streams for general waste, commingled recycling, cardboard, and paper throughout all public spaces, staff facilities, and our technical workshops.

We conduct annual reviews of our waste segregation processes to ensure effective management. We coordinate with our Waste Management Partner, Cleanaway, to address any issues that arise both internally and externally.

Waste – Secure Destruction of Documents & Staff Uniforms with Shred-X

Both dealerships use Shred-X for the secure destruction and recycling of confidential documents and branded uniforms. This program ensures the safe disposal of sensitive materials while promoting responsible recycling practices.

Household Battery Recycling via “Batteries 4 Planet Ark” Program

Both Dealerships partake in the Battery recycling program in their Customer Lounges.

Batteries 4 Planet Ark provides a national battery recycling service with secure, fireproof collection boxes. Organizations can request a box, which is collected by Close the Loop when full and then recycled by Envirostream. Over 95% of battery materials, including steel, copper, aluminium, and energy metals, are recovered and recycled into new lithium-ion batteries.

Containers For Change Initiative

Moorooka’s Customer Lounge features a Containers for Change bin for recycling drink cans and water bottles. All profits from the collected recyclables are automatically and electronically donated to our chosen charity, Foodbank Queensland.
